Note from CPC Missionaries
August 2026

At CPC, we believe missions is an invitation—an invitation to witness how the Gospel is moving around the world and to join God in the work He is already doing.

This summer, we are especially blessed to welcome two of the eight missionaries CPC supports back to Minnesota: Luke and Christina Harniess, who have been serving in Malaysia for the past seven years and have spent more than 20 years serving on the mission field, and Claire Miller, who served in Paris for the past two years and has returned to the United States to begin seminary at Duke University this fall.

While their ministries look different, their stories reflect the same beautiful truth: God is at work across cultures, communities, and nations—opening hearts, bringing healing, building His Church, and inviting people into relationship with Christ.

“To us, missions is about watching how the Gospel moves to open up hearts and bring real hope. We see this often in Malaysia. One example is a young lady named Thea. When we first met her, she was struggling deeply with anxiety and life was up and down. As she came to truly know Jesus, God did a deep work of healing in her life. Fast forward to today: she isn't just getting by, she’s thriving and preparing to become a youth pastor! Watching the Gospel move in someone's heart and turn their life completely around is such a privilege to see time after time. At its core, missions is about connecting people with a loving Savior who died not only to show them God’s love but to release them into life in abundance. Jesus truly is the way, the truth, and the life!”

Their story is a powerful reminder that the Gospel doesn’t simply change circumstances—it transforms hearts and calls people into new life and purpose.

Across the world in France, Claire spent two years in intensive language training so she could share the love of Christ with her neighbors and growing church community in French. What a beautiful testament to her calling and commitment to the people God placed around her.

“For me, serving in missions has been an invitation to see God’s creativity in how He calls people to Himself in different cultural contexts. My understanding of God has grown through seeing how worship and community differ between France and Minnesota, yet I am constantly amazed by the unity in the Church across nations that can only come from Jesus.”

Through our missionaries, we are invited to see more of the heart of God—to celebrate the many ways He is drawing people to Himself and to recognize that, while cultures and expressions of faith may differ, we are united through Christ. Thank you for continuing to say “yes” to God’s invitation. Your generosity makes it possible for our missionaries to faithfully serve, build relationships, share the hope of Jesus, and invest deeply in the communities where God has called them. Your prayers sustain and encourage them as they navigate the joys, challenges, and unexpected moments of life and ministry far from home.

As we celebrate all of our Mission Partners, would you join us in praying for them? Pray that they would be strengthened and encouraged, that God would continue to open hearts, and that they would experience the joy of seeing lives transformed through the hope of Jesus. We are so grateful to be part of what God is doing here, near, and far. May these stories draw us closer to the heart of God and remind us that mission is not simply something we do for Him—it is something we are invited to do with Him.
