At the beginning of June, seventeen of our high school students traveled to Milwaukee to partner with YouthWorks for a week of service, learning, and spiritual growth. We are grateful for the opportunity to step outside of our everyday routines and join in the work God is already doing in the Milwaukee community. Throughout the week, we were reminded that serving others is not just something we do, but an invitation to participate in God's kingdom work.
Our team had the opportunity to serve in a variety of ways across the city. We worked alongside local gardens and food shelves that are helping to address food insecurity in Milwaukee, partnered with Adullam as they provided families with essential items to rebuild their lives, and spent time at St. Ann Center, serving children and adults with disabilities in an intergenerational community of care. Each ministry site offered a different glimpse into the needs, strengths, and stories of the community we were serving.
One of the greatest gifts of the week was seeing the Gospel come to life through both service and relationships. We witnessed the dignity of every person being affirmed, saw joy shared across generations and abilities, and were reminded that God is already at work in places we might not expect. Our students learned that mission is not about "bringing" God somewhere He is absent, but about joining Him in the work He is already doing. Through conversations, service, worship, and reflection, we saw hearts softened, perspectives broadened, and faith deepened.
Thank you for your prayers and support of our students and leaders as they served this summer. We are expectant that the seeds planted during our week in Milwaukee will continue to bear fruit in the lives of our students, our church, and the communities we had the privilege to serve alongside.
