More about the Congo Initiative (CI):

CI believes that education is the most powerful tool to bring about the transformation of lives and communities.  It was founded in 2005 and opened the doors of its University - Université Chrétienne Bilingue du Congo (UCBC) -  in 2007. Since then, UCBC has educated and equipped hundreds to transform communities in DRC. The university prepares students to ignite change, achieve social impact, and transform lives.

CI also invests in Congo’s youngest learners through a primary and secondary school, Académie Bilingue du Congo and La Charité Bilingue du Congo. In Congo, an estimated 7 million children aged 5-17 do not go to school, with only 50% of girls in that age group attending. Only 67% of children who start first grade will complete sixth grade. CI believes the first step to breaking cycles of poverty and conflict is primary education.

CI also invests in community engagement initiatives that serve and provide solutions for some of the greatest needs of the wider community.
